ABSTRACT
The coal strip mines situated on the plateau of the Mpumulanga Province in South Africa disturb several hundred hectares of land each year. The objective of environmental management programs is to restore land capability to “as good, if not better” than the original condition. This implies no loss in production potential and no increase in erodibility.
