ABSTRACT

The Prequalification Questionnaire is used to assess if a business fulfils a set of criteria that complies with the fundamental needs and expectations of a tendering authority or organisation. An organisation must be compliant before it can proceed to the next stage that is the invitation to tender. There is limited scope to address sustainability at this stage; however, organisations can include prequalification criteria that demonstrate: no prosecutions for environmental or health and safety breaches in a given period and how suppliers can support the organisation's sustainability strategies. An example of what an organisation may include at this stage in relation to sustainability criteria could be: The contract award will be based on the Most Economically Advantageous Tender. The procurement team or officer must decide how they will assess the level of commitment and performance of a supplier in relation to environmental and social sustainability.
