ABSTRACT

Online therapy guarantees more stable and continuous meetings with the client, as the connection can continue even when the client is away for business. As for vacations, it is important not to schedule meetings in the therapist’s or patient’s vacation time, although it is possible technically. The decision might change according to the patient’s needs, and there is an option of negotiating and discussing with the patients what is the best position for them and at different times. Online meetings are more distracting than f2f ones, partly because there is always the possibility of intruding emails, phone calls, or other interruptions, and partly because it is more difficult to stay focused in front of the screen. In the USA, the therapist needs to be licensed to practice in the jurisdiction where the client is physically located and cannot practice across State borders.
