ABSTRACT
In this study, three structural design concepts are integrated: the use of composite concrete-filled tube columns, the use of partially restrained connections, and the introduction of innovative materials (shape memory alloys) in the connection area. To understand the integration of these concepts and the scope of this dissertation, a brief description of each of these three topics will be given first.
