ABSTRACT
When considering material properties of engineering elements, for example, it is
reasonable to assume that there will be some variation that could be reflected
conveniently by way of a probability distribution. There are, however, aspects of
behaviour that are fundamentally different and yet may still lead to some form of
probability distribution.
