ABSTRACT
Cheating is more likely to happen when there is a strong competitive culture and some individuals are seen as ‘successful’ and others as ‘losers’. Children who fear ‘being a loser’ may use all means at their disposal to be ‘a winner’. This includes breaking the rules to secure an advantage, copying the work of others or passing something off as your own work when it isn’t.
