ABSTRACT

The Royal Air Force is currently undergoing a period of re-equipment greater than any since the Korean war. From that fact one can reasonably infer that military air power is still considered important. The Soviets, too, are devoting huge budgets to their air forces. But what of the future? Will military air power still be seen as crucial in 40 years' time, and what new factors are likely to be involved? Before we look at the particular, we need some form of framework.
