ABSTRACT

There is a growing concern in the project management community about the lack of historical understanding of the emergence of project management and the importance of landmark projects. Both researchers in project management (Garel, 2003) and business historians (Scranton, 2008) are calling for the development of a history of projects and project management. Indeed with the notable exception of Morris (1997) and the indepth studies of Hughes (1998) and Johnson (2002), we actually do not know of any history of project management.
