ABSTRACT

Sexual Health of Children and Adolescents at School plays a prominent role in the lives of children and adolescents. They are the most likely institutions in which formal instruction in promoting sexual health practices will be delivered to adolescents has articulated by noted scholars, and agencies that have devoted significant energy to addressing the sexual health of youth. Recently collected data through Child Trends Data Bank document about one-third of teens reported being sexually active, defined as having sex in the last 3 months, with the most recent 2013 prevalence rates for sexually active teens at 34percentage. Young people are also at heightened risk for sexual risk outcomes, as two-thirds of those under the age of 25 comprise the percentage within the population that have contracted sexually transmitted infections. As articulated by SIECUS, federal funding was through the CDC for teen pregnancy prevention, with HIV/STI prevention as an 'add on' not necessarily tied to the sexual health curriculum in schools.
