ABSTRACT

Building on the previous chapter, every student within our classes has a right to an inclusive education. Therefore, we are required to all students to meet the expected outcomes of our lessons – this can be difficult to achieve when you take into account different educational needs. This chapter outlines practical methods to support students with special educational needs, such as adapting practical tasks for students with physical disabilities to giving instructions to students who may not understand the English language. A key theme of this chapter is ensuring that the teacher knows their group well – and building this into planning and teaching is an essential part of our teaching role.
