ABSTRACT
The method of direct estimation for psychological measurement is simple and attractive. The subject is asked to assign numbers to represent psychological magnitude of loudness of a sound, for example, or likableness of a person, or subjective probability of some event. Subjects find this natural and easy to do. It seems to provide direct access to psychological sensation.
