ABSTRACT

A general mainstream on cultural policy, in which public action is mainly interpreted according to a strict economic perspective and the connection between culture. The historical part of the broader research project has offered many evidences of a gradual shift, through time, from a pedagogic conception of public action in the cultural field centred on imperatives of promoting access to cultural life and devices to a broader public, emphasizing the civic and democratic value of culture to an idea of cultural activities as, mainly, subject to a market-like evaluation. More generally, cultural projects and activities are mainly judged and evaluated by many actors of the local cultural system in terms of territorial marketing and looking at their strictly immediate economic feedbacks. The experience of Ex-Fonderie Riunite in Modena is a process of reinforcement of the local public sphere in several ways.
