ABSTRACT
In addition to the obvious need for fortifications, administrative and religiousbuildings, and alongside the commercial establishments set up by the Franks, a number of other buildings were intended to serve the needs of the local population and the pilgrims. Among these were the hospices and hospitals, bathhouses and stables.
