ABSTRACT

As we have discussed earlier in this book, we are living and working in a technologically advanced and information-rich world. This chapter is intended to help you make the most of the opportunities which e-learning can offer for you and your students, whilst highlighting the pitfalls which you will almost certainly encounter along the way. We begin with an explanation of what e-learning is in clear and simple language. You are then asked to complete the ‘e-learning: enthusiast or sceptic quiz’ about your attitude and approach to e-learning. The chapter then presents a strong argument for introducing simple but creative uses of e-learning into your teaching, emphasising the benefits for your students that it can bring. By following the advice in this chapter you should be able to enrich your students’ learning and your teaching, and make sure that it is learning that is at the heart of e-learning.
