ABSTRACT

Focused around the three pillars of the academy-teaching, research, and service-this chapter includes specific ideas on how to best represent everything you do (e.g., class development, contract and grant efforts, research activities, professional development efforts, participation in service activities). Additionally, for those readers who have found the dossier process to be laborious and difficult, we hope to reframe how you think about and approach “putting your dossier together.” Thus, irrespective of your past thoughts or emotions,

your idiosyncratic style for putting the dossier together, whether you are a junior facultymember or a tenured associate professor applying for professor status, one of our goals is to help you reframe the dossier undertaking into an opportunity to prove to yourself that you have the knowledge, skills, and competency to make your goals a reality. We also hope to help you find the process of creating your dossier and “putting it all together” as rewarding and gratifying as we have. This chapter will help to make the marathon more logical, understandable, and achievable.
