ABSTRACT

Quality standards are required to compare or measure the quality of services in the organization. Quality standards indicate the level of quality the organization intends to achieve. Total quality management emphasizes the need to involve all the departments and personnel of an organization in improving the quality of services. It also emphasizes improving structure and processes for better output. Continuous quality improvement emphasizes that there is no limit to improving quality. Quality improvement is a continuous, ongoing, and infinite process. The quality of clinical care can be measured through the following factors: effectiveness of clinical care; safety and patient satisfaction. Incident management is an important component of clinical care quality. Every untoward incident related to clinical care is to be reported and investigated by an expert, and the lessons from the investigation are to be disseminated to stakeholders with the aim of preventing similar incidents in the future.
