ABSTRACT
This chapter extends the idea of queering organisation sexualities to include heterosexuality. Noting the paucity of queer theory research on heterosexuality, this chapter draws on queer and feminist scholarship to demonstrate the importance of deconstructing organisation heterosexuality. One of the central arguments in this chapter is that heterosexuality and heteronormativity are not the same, despite the tendency in some queer theory circles to conflate them. The same tendency is noted in some MOS research also. Articulating a counter-view, which shows how heterosexuality is historically patterned and can be experienced as antinormative, this chapter highlights the queer theory scholarship that has disrupted heteronormative notions of heterosexuality. It then turns to the MOS field to identify how similar ambitions can be facilitated through the practice of ‘queer reflexivity’.
