ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we see how two scientists, James D. Watson and Francis Crick, working in an English laboratory, managed to beat the great American chemist Linius Pauling in the race to discover the structure of the DNA molecule. Once the double helix structure was confirmed, they solved a second problem, which is the mechanism by which DNA duplicates itself during cell division.
