The chapter presents reactions to rehabilitation case of Amy Parent, a freshman basketball player. The chapter presents Amy’s case, the details of a concussion she sustained two minutes into her first intercollegiate game and discusses her reactions to rehabilitation given the complex nature of concussions and the uncertain timeline for recovery and return to sport. Amy’s reactions to rehabilitation are addressed through the framework of the sport-concussion adapted model (Wiese-Bjornstal, White, Russell, & Smith, 2015), with particular attention on the interplay of personal and situational factors influencing her cognitive, emotional, and behavioral responses to rehabilitation. Based on the above, an interprofessional plan of care is developed, and the case is evaluated from the perspectives of an athletic therapist, an educational assistant, and a mental performance consultant. The chapter also reviews pertinent ethical considerations associated with the case as well as provide a seven-month update of Amy’s progress.
