ABSTRACT

In some cases, it will be possible to use a task that is for all intents and purposes identical to the real-world behavior we are studying. For lack of a better term, we will call these nonverbal or real-world tasks. Such tasks are most often used in virtual reality (VR) setups, where the loop between stimulus and action can be closed so that the action changes what is currently being seen. Such tasks can, of course, be found in the real world as well. For example, simply asking someone to point to a target is a real-world or nonverbal task.
