ABSTRACT
This chapter is aimed at providing you with a reality check for your teaching career to date, which we are confident will signal that you have now moved out of the ‘deep end’, and are growing in confidence that you will never return to its troubled waters. You will pause, reflect and ask yourself some crunch questions about how you feel, where you’re going and where you plan to be in the next year or two. The chapter begins by offering you the chance to reflect on your teaching experiences to date, and how you have been managing them so far, using themes covered in earlier parts of the book. You will use these reflections to ‘future gaze’ about how your growing ‘mastery’ could enhance your career prospects in PCE, and what to consider when career opportunities arise. The chapter closes with a brief consideration of the idea of the professional in PCE, and the chance for you to ask yourself just how ‘professional’ you feel at this stage of your career.
