ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an interesting insight into the role of Chinese culture on the learning experience of students and their entrepreneurial and enterprising intentions. It highlights the ways in which Chinese universities might alter existing teaching and learning approaches, innovation and the softer skills which would not only better prepare them for the employment market but also enable them to manage the transition to other institutions outside China. Critical thinking is seen as a useful learning approach to widen the students' perspectives, hence the requirement in western education for this practice to underpin teaching and assessment to encourage evaluative and critical practices. The majority of students argued that their previous learning experiences at Chinese institutions influenced their perceptions of critical thinking at United Kingdom universities and their initial ability to tackle such an approach to teaching and learning.
