ABSTRACT

The rapidly developing world encourages high education researchers to explore new ways to help us successfully socialize and remain competitive. It will become an emerging trend of the synergy of diversified studying and modern information technologies in educational activities. As one of the most promising modern teaching modes, the micro-course is favored by teachers and students because it enables better retention rates, requiring shorter attention spans and resulting in more reinforced quality learning. Also, it is conducive and effective to knowledge creativity, positivism, and time arrangement. Taking the design and application of the micro-course of “Crystal Dislocation,” a basic theoretical chapter in the “Materials Science Foundation” (MSF), as an example, the role of the micro-course in the reform and innovation of university teaching model is discussed in this paper. First, the basic information about the micro-course including its concept, development process, and main characteristics is briefly introduced. Second, the technical features and the teaching requirements of “Crystal Dislocation” in MSF are discussed. Finally, based on the content of “Crystal Dislocation,” the main process and the application of micro-course production are described. The research results in this paper are valuable for enhancing the strong micro-education growth in the learning system, along with the constant reform and innovation of the university curriculum teaching mode.
