ABSTRACT
In 2016, the Colombian government signed Peace Accords with the FARC. Both parties agreed to end over fifty years of violence. As part of the peacemaking process, former FARC participate in re-integration activities, including fútbol matches in which civilians, government military, former guerrilla and para-military comprise the teams. In this chapter, Jackson-Schebetta examines a 2016 Llanogrande match specifically as a peacemaking performance. Using dance philosopher Erin Manning’s conceptualization of relational movement as intrinsic to identity formation and reformation, Jackson-Schebetta illuminates how the 2016 Llanogrande match, coinciding with the 2016 World Cup, functioned as a recuperative healing performance in the present, as well as a (re)making of peace with the past: specifically the ‘93-‘94 Colombian national teams, buoyed and plagued by the violence of the narcotics economy of the 80s and 90s.
