ABSTRACT

The focus of this paper is to propose a rigorous framework of calibrating resistance factors of piles based on incomplete load test database. Imagine most information available from a regional database is the bounds on the Davisson capacities of the test piles. How can the regional resistance factors be calibrated based on the incomplete information? A test pile database of Taipei will be studied as demonstration, and a full probabilistic framework will be proposed to resolve the issue of incomplete information. In principle, the proposed framework is not limited to theTaipei database: the same framework can be implemented to other regional test pile database with incomplete information to calibrate regional resistance factors.
