ABSTRACT
Besides the further development of database methods to efficiently store and manage petabytes of data online, making these archives easily and safely accessible via the Internet or a computing grid, another essential task is to develop powerful data mining tools to analyze such data. Thus, there is no wonder that data mining has also stepped on to the center stage in science and engineering.
