ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the results of data from the qualitative research approach in terms of the five operational themes: knowledge acquisition, information interpretation, information distribution, organizational memory and structural change/adaptation and the emergent themes. The qualitative analyses show links between the constructs team psychological safety, worker engagement, leader inclusiveness and the theoretical and operational themes of organizational learning – knowledge acquisition, information interpretation and distribution, organizational memory and change/adaptation. The global research inquiry was into how shipping companies as organizations learn from, filter and give credence/acceptability to differing risk perceptions and how this influences the work culture with special regard to group/team dynamics and individual motivation. The correlations were investigated using Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient tests. Preliminary analysis showed no violation of the assumptions of normality, linearity and homoscedasticity. The findings from the qualitative phase of the research are indicated in the conceptual maps.
