ABSTRACT
The Web is persistently evolving with reports of new development technologies in practice and research. The potential of extracting valuable knowledge from the Web has been quite evident. The need to develop intelligent systems has motivated research in areas like contextual information retrieval and web mining. More recently, the need to leverage social data for analytics has been identified by the research community and sentiment analysis has emerged as a rapidly growing area. This chapter provides a brief overview of these ongoing research directions—in terms of technologies, applications, and challenges.
