ABSTRACT

Reuse specialist knowledge runs in parallel with Managing Product Delivery. The role of the Project Knowledge Manager is to facilitate reuse of all kinds of specialist knowledge, during and across projects. The specific trigger for evaluation of specific knowledge needs varies. Particular knowledge activities, triggered by Communities of Practice (CoP) evaluation, may lead to an update of the organizational knowledge base, a follow-up activity. Cooperation with CoP also enables the Project Knowledge Manager to trigger evaluation of specialist knowledge beyond the level of single projects, as may follow from the Reuse specialist knowledge process. In conjunction with updating the knowledge base by adding/updating specific knowledge objects based on evident knowledge needs, the Project Knowledge Manager is also responsible for updating the associated knowledge value chains. Once a CoP takes over and triggers and arranges knowledge evaluation, the concept of knowledge value chain takes a new level, transcending project boundaries, thanks to value-adding activities in social networks of experts.
