ABSTRACT
While contribution of mining to the US economy is relatively minor, in global terms the American mining industry is the largest in the world. Most of this industry is highly sophisticated, safe and efficient. As such it sets trends in and leads development of new mining technologies and methods. The US mining industry is supported by a large and modern mining equipment industry, by a variety of service providers, consultants as well as training and educational facilities.
