ABSTRACT

Examinations are usually one of the most stress-provoking activities that students encounter. Many people fool themselves that they are working hard at revising for examinations but in fact they often do not work productively. The anxiety attached to examinations often stems from experiences at school and students will then carry those bad experiences with them into adulthood. This chapter provides information on strategies that will improve researchers' revision skills. The revision really starts after the first week of the course. The chapter explores how to write essays under exam conditions. It also provides information on strategies that will help researcher reduce exam stress and nerves. The revision skills and examination techniques should also be the skills that will lead to a reduction in stress. Human beings are all different but in our competitive world exams seem to provoke anxiety in most students. Increasingly universities provide mindfulness training, which has also been successful in some school settings.
