ABSTRACT

It has been said that during the lifetime of a corporation division its leader should be in turn a risk taker, a caretaker, and an undertaker. The first develops a business where none existed before, the second nurtures it over the years of its success, and the third keeps it as profitable as possible while it dwindles into obsolescence. Most personalities are not adaptable enough to do each at the right time, so these roles are usually played by at least three separate individuals.
