ABSTRACT
This extensive study discusses the contents of Greek, Coptic and Arabic inscriptions on Christian tirâz, or inscribed luxury garments, which developed at the same time as the Arabic tirâz and followed an originally Islamic fashion. A special group of textiles with Greek and Coptic Psalm verses are discussed for the first time.
