Freedom of the Press to Cover HIV/AIDS: A Clear and Present Danger?

Whatever impact the media coverage of the first decade of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) epidemic may have had, it has clearly not been sufficient to limit the spread of HIV infection, and this fact represents a grave threat to the medical and economic security of the United States and the world.
