ABSTRACT

This chapter attempts to outline four things: coaching supervision and its benefits, a snapshot of the coaching industry in Asia Pacific, coaching supervision in this region and a way forward. Coaching supervision is a bold and unfamiliar terrain for coaches and the coaching profession in Asia Pacific. Supervision, therefore, is that space for a coach to check-in with an experienced coach who is qualified to provide a safety net for a supervisee's professional development and to support the supervisee through challenges and ethical dilemmas or boundary issues. The benefits and the developmental growth in having coaching supervision is, indeed, an eye opener. The growth in multinational organizations doing business in Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, India, and China and in Indonesia has seen the introduction of coaching as a developmental tool for executive and business coaches to operate across Asia Pacific.
