ABSTRACT
Electricity is a convenient and flexible way to provide power to a huge set of appliances. Effective and reliable supply of this kind of energy largely depends on its ubiquitous transmission and distribution. However, the architecture of current power grids was designed forty years ago or even more, when generation by few large oligopolistic utilities was mostly based on fossil fuels.
