ABSTRACT
Being in a new and diff erent situation gave me the opportunity to experience what it feels like to be away from one’s familiar surroundings and to be the odd person out. It can be very scary and lonely at times, but you do get over it. This is one way I have become more sensitive. This will defi nitely help me if I ever get a student who is from another country, or even another state, in my classroom. I learned so much, especially about myself-and the world.
