ABSTRACT
Achieving qualified teacher status is an important milestone in a teacher's career – the culmination of intensive study, practical classroom experience and rigorous reflection on experience and learning. Meeting the QTS standards by the end of initial teacher training requires commitment and determination, and is characterised by the blending of newly acquired knowledge, skills and understanding about teaching with personal strengths and qualities drawn from previous experience.
