ABSTRACT

The whole of the last third of the fifth century saw the Persians embroiled in a bitter struggle with their new eastern neighbours, the Hephthalite Huns. Peroz conducted several campaigns against them, with little success: in the first he was captured, in the second he was killed. See Szaivert 1987, Luther 1997: 121-4, Greatrex 1998a: 46-8.
