ABSTRACT
A lot has been written on the theories and concepts of the services and functionalities provided by routers. Therefore, our first task in this chapter is to understand how a router works. Some theories and concepts will be introduced to explain how a router transmits a packet to its destination through an optimized route and how it computes this route.
