ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a rule for learning tricky spellings. The rule states that where there is a letter q, it is always followed by the letter u, for e.g. quiet or square. The chapter presents an exercise for learners to read out loud some words starting with 'qu' using the rule. It provides clues and pictures to help learners to spell some words starting with 'qu' by using the rule. The chapter also includes an activity for the learners to rewrite some words into the correct order in a sentence by adding the missing ‘qu’ words to complete the sentence.
