ABSTRACT
In the previous chapters, we concluded that the identity gap between Russia and NATO member states was not an obstacle to their relations. We also evoked the possibility that conflict of interests between the two parties might be a more plausible explanation. In order to test the validity of this assumption, there is no better way than to single out a situation in which Russia and NATO may have opposed interests and to see to what impact this opposition has on their relations.
