ABSTRACT
Over the past decade, the Russian Federation has gone through a regional isation process unparalleled in Russian history. Emerging from the rubble of the Soviet collapse in 1991, the Russian Federation began a process of devolving power to its constituent parts. The aim of this chapter is to analyse the dynamics of this regionalisation process as observed in the rela tionship between the federal centre and the federal subjects of North western Russia.
