Lack of knowledge or skill is one of the root causes of accidents. Safety training creates an awareness of what causes accidents, what constitutes injuries and diseases, and how they can be prevented. Specific training is required for handling of hazardous materials, lockout, issuance, and receipt of work permits, etc. Safety induction training is normally presented to new employees and contractors to ensure that they are familiar with the work environment and the risks inherent in the workplace and work they do. Safety training may be specific and could cover topics such as the following: An important part of carrying out critical or hazardous tasks, is the training that is presented to enable the workers to understand the critical task procedure. Ongoing safety training for safety department staff is important and would help keep them updated on modern safety techniques: Work permits are written authorizations given to employees who carry out hazardous tasks, or who work in hazardous situations.
