ABSTRACT
The design of the nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) can play a significant role if a plant experiences abnormal conditions. The NS SS primarily involves systems associated with reactivity management, fuel, reactor vessel, and coolant and control systems. This chapter describes the key design characteristics of these main components, systems, and design features for various LWRs. The safety-related aspects are emphasized.
