Therapists vary greatly in effectiveness. “Who” the therapist is, which encompasses one’s personal attributes and skills, ranks second only to client/life factors in its impact on therapeutic outcomes. This chapter addresses the question, “What makes some therapists more effective than others?” and explains how the assumptions and actions of strengths-based therapists enhance the effectiveness of SBT.
