The Biographical Notice of the Author prefaced the four-volume set Northanger Abbey and Persuasion (1818); a slightly altered version, entitled ‘Memoir of Miss Austen’, dated October 1832, prefaced Bentley’s edition of Sense and Sensibility (1833).
