ABSTRACT

Many experiments in perception involve perceptual processes of considerable importance in dealing with the world, but they may not throw much light on immediate practical problems. In addition, practical problems often do not allow careful selection and manipulation of variables: the stimuli are fixed and the experiment has to be designed around them. It is, however, still possible to select the response measures necessary to obtain information relevant to the problem you wish to solve. In this workshop you will be tackling a practical perceptual problem in just this way.
