The main aim of the chapter is to highlight the status of secondary education in Odisha and the challenges which have been involved in the process of education. The educational status of parents, education of neighbours and guidance to school-going students, and infrastructure and availability of household assets for educational attainment are pointed out and discussed. In the school, infrastructural facilities, performance and achievements, classroom participation and comprehension of Scheduled Caste (SC) students, teachers’ perception towards SC students, and experience of discrimination in school and availability of affirmative action are presented through empirical evidence.
