ABSTRACT

FHAMIPv6 was designed to extend the features of FHMIPv6 to mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). The security issues related to the FHAMIPv6 protocol are studied. Traditional routing algorithms such as link state or distance vector are not appropriate because they were designed for environments where the topology does not change or changes only very slightly. The security issues in the network layer are for the routing protection protocol and forwarding mechanisms. The attacks against the security of MANETs can be classified as actives and passives. The following are the security problems of the ad hoc on-demand distance vector and dynamic source routing routing algorithms: active attacks and passive attacks. Next, the most relevant security issues of the specification will be introduced. Finally, some high-risk security issues that are unrelated to the messages are used by FHAMIPv6. FHAMIPv6 does not implement any improvement to these security problems of the physical layer.
